La anemia es una enfermedad que ocurre si el cuerpo no tiene suficientes glóbulos rojos sanos o hay poca cantidad de hemoglobina en la sangre. Los glóbulos rojos de la sangre transportan oxígeno a través del cuerpo. Una proteína llamada hemoglobina les permite a los glóbulos rojos absorber y liberar el oxígeno. Sin suficientes glóbulos rojos o hemoglobina el cuerpo no recibe suficiente oxígeno, es entonces cuando pueden aparecer los síntomas de la anemia.
