GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) in Children
GERD is sometimes called acid indigestion or heartburn. It happens when stomach contents flow back up (reflux) into the esophagus. If your child has GERD, they should be checked by a health care provider.

Babies with severe reflux have gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). A baby with GERD may spit up too much and not get enough nourishment from food. The baby can also breathe in spit-up liquid. This can cause problems with the baby's breathing.
